A few things about my beloved Africa and the Red Sox (two strange things to have in the same sentence.
I'm adding Erin Costello Nilon and her husband Mike their blog to my list. They are presently in Cameroon on Peace Corp Volunteer for 2 years. I'm following them on their blog and the website of past volunteers in the area that has beautiful pictures. I am sooo jealous I can hardly speak!!!
One of my professors (Ira, the guy from the previous blog) gave us this Bush vs. Kerry comparison on HIV/AIDS issues. Of great importance to us public health people. Read and LEARN please!!!!!!
What to say about the Red Sox> Wow!!!! I'd have to say that I"ve enjoyed spending the last 3 nights staying up till 1am at a bar to watch them carry the once "cursed" team to victory. Usually enjoying the game over a good belgium beer (that's the best way). I suppose I owe thanks to the Montgomery's who gave the montgomery children a tour of Boston including a Yankee vs. Red Sox game in Fenway Park. The people and the place just breed dire fans. Tim and I feel like were bostonians.

Well Car, I hope you don't kill me for putting this up here. Congrats on the race.

Officially it is 12:15 Sunday morning. Car will be waking up in ~4 hours to go run a marathon. A MARATHON!!!! That's amazing. Have fun and run hard. Keep track of where the marathon is....presently there are 0:7:45:55 to go.
We're cheering you on from here.

This is a bit of a tribute and update on my favorite teacher. Dr. Schwartz enthusiastically and persuasively teaches my AIDS; Public Health Implications class here at Emory. He is the dean of med. a joint faculty member in the school of public health, and HIV pediatrician. I cannot praise this man more. I am learning so much about HIV/AIDS it is amazing!! He constantly shares personal feelings and issues of concern, apologized if he says something insensitive to a student, and just genuinely loves teaching. I am taking this class for no credit, but it the most interesting/educational course I have. Also he has the most hilarious and important quotes on the board (none posted here, sorry) for the class; I wish I could capture them all!

MD, University of Chicago, 1977 Uganda AIDS campaign
As well, he (we think) graduated from the University of Chicago around (if not the same year) as Daddy Mo. Two great men from the same school, how coincidental!!!
